Money Magazine - Manage your money like a Man...or a Woman

If you have been following my blog, you know that I am receiving Money Magazine for free.  In the November 2010 issue, there was a feature on how to manage your money depending on which sex/gender you are.

The online version has 13 strategies for each gender.  It probably does not hurt to read both.

All about productivity and efficiency

Tagging onto my previous post from Inc. Magazine (disclaimer that I am getting it for free at this time) and their website about organization in the office (which I would include both home and at "work").

They also have a section on their website about "How to Create a Productive Office Environment."  The highlights include:

  • Heating and Cooling
  • Open vs. Closed
  • Flexibility
  • Sustainability
  • Ergonomics
  • Technology
  • Style

Inc. Magazine: Organize your office/workspace

I am currently receiving Inc. Magazine for free.  In the most recent issue I found links to their website that helps with organizing workspaces.

Highlights include:

  • Categories of organizing (paper, stuff, electronic documents, space, time)
  • Measuring productivity
  • Sources of clutter
  • Value of a personal assistant
  • Adjusting to a home office
  • Common mistakes
  • Tools
  • Resources
Of note, one of the things that they mention that will help is the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner.  I own two of these (one for home and one for work). The Rack2Filer program is very intuitive.

LATimes.com: Extending the shelf life of frequent-flier miles

I like reading David Lazarus' columns.  I do not currently subscribe to the Los Angeles Times, but every once in a while I come across a copy.

In the October 15, 2010 issue, he discusses what to do with airline miles and extend the "life" of the miles without them expiring (and you losing them).  Some of the options include:

  • Flying somewhere
  • Buying miles
  • Buying non-miles-merchandise on-line / Subscribing
  • Viewing promotional videos and responding to surveys
  • Take on-line surveys
  • Gifting/Transfer miles (usually for a fee)

Joel Stein: Space Invaders

If you have been reading my blog, you know that I have been receiving Time Magazine for free (well, without charge).  According to the label (if I read it correctly), it looks like I will be getting it until May 2011.

Recently, I linked to a previous Time article on bedbugs and now Joel (who usually has the last article in the magazine) also mentions them.
